Gallerists Dell Pryor and Dr. Cledie Taylor along with artist, art educator and President of the Michigan Chapter of the National Conference of Artists, Shirley Woodson, were honored for their lifetime contributions to the culture by a standing room-only audience of art enthusiasts, artists, and collectors. These pillars of Detroit’s African American art scene were honored in the scenic Kresge Court of the Detroit Institute of Arts on the evening of February 1st. Detroit artist Anita Bates, facilitated a panel discussion at the event focused on the heritage and longevity of black arts and culture in Detroit.
